Special Features:

Batch 2 consists exclusively of Ardnahoe single malt matured for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels. The distillery selected particularly full-bodied casks and combined the whiskies drawn from them to create its second Cask Strength batch.

The edition was bottled at its natural cask strength of 61%, with no added colouring or chill filtration. This keeps the young, peated Islay spirit closely connected to the profile of the first-fill bourbon barrels. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Coastal salt, earthy peat and rich cocoa come together on the nose.
• Palate: Orchard fruits, herbal tea and salted caramel meet powerful peat smoke on the palate.
• Finish: The finish remains smoky for a long time and fades with clear citrus notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ardnahoe Distillery Co Ltd operates the distillery at Loch Ardnahoe, produces the Islay single malt and releases Batch 2 as an official bottling. Hunter Laing & Co. Ltd was founded in 2013 by Stewart Laing and his sons Andrew and Scott, and selected the distillery site in 2015. The first distillation runs began in October 2018, and cask 001 was filled on 9 November of that year.

The malt used for the smoky spirit is dried over peat smoke for around 20 hours. Fermentation then lasts approximately 65 to 70 hours before Ardnahoe distils slowly through unusually long, downward-sloping lyne arms. It is the only distillery on Islay to use traditional worm-tub condensers, which give the spirit additional texture.
