Càraid Ìleach No. 1 marks Ardnahoe’s first full maturation in Oloroso sherry quarter casks and forms the Oloroso half of a two-part sherry duo. Originally created exclusively for the German market, the edition was bottled at 50%, yielding 2,510 bottles. The whisky is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.
Its flavour profile brings together cocoa, orange peel and dark cherry with campfire ash. Toasted walnut, fruitcake and nutmeg lead into a rich interplay of leather and peat smoke.

Ardnahoe grew out of Stewart Laing’s long-held plan to produce his own whisky with his sons Andrew and Scott after their work as independent blenders and bottlers. In 2015, the family selected a site by Loch Ardnahoe in north-eastern Islay; the first distillation runs began in October 2018.
The distillery uses slow distillation, unusually long downward-sloping lyne arms and the only worm-tub condensers on Islay. Its Oloroso casks come directly from Jerez. Càraid Ìleach No. 1 is an official distillery bottling, and the whisky was matured entirely in Oloroso sherry quarter casks.
