Special Features:

Yeun Elez Jobic is distilled from Scottish barley malt peated to 50 ppm and the distillery’s own spring water. This Breton single malt matures in ex-bourbon casks and is bottled at 46%. The peat smoke comes from drying the malt using peat as fuel. The 50 ppm refers to the malt used, not the finished whisky.

The name links the Breton marsh of Yeun Elez with Jobic, a figure from local legend. In the traditional tale, Jobic leads a black dog whose body holds a restless soul to this marsh, regarded as a gateway to the underworld.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, medicinal peat combines with camphor, clove, banana, cooked peach and pastry cream.
• Palate: On the palate, smoke combines with fresh citrus notes. The whisky feels rounded and shows a hint of salt.
• Finish: The long finish is iodine-rich and spicy, ending with a warm wood-fire note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Distillerie Warenghem was founded in 1900 by Léon Warenghem in Lannion on Brittany’s Pink Granite Coast. It initially made botanical liqueurs. Since relocating in 1974, the distillery has stood directly beside the Rest Avel spring. This independent family business began making whisky in 1983, becoming the first Breton distillery to do so.

In 1993, a dedicated whisky distillery was established with two copper pot stills modelled on Scottish designs. Armorik followed in 1998 as a Breton single malt. Warenghem produces Armorik at its own site; Yeun Elez Jobic is also distilled in the distillery’s traditional pot stills.
