Special features: This exclusive single cask bottling was selected by North Star Spirits for the Japanese retailer Shinanoya. The 15-year-old Lowland Single Malt Whisky from the Auchentoshan Distillery was triple distilled and matured in a heavily toasted Red Wine Barrique. Bottled at cask strength with 54% vol., without chill filtration and without coloring, this whisky presents itself in natural color. With only 295 bottles, it is a rare and characterful interpretation of the classic Lowland style.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Notes of old leather, pipe smoke, and brandy butter open the bouquet. Behind them, dark fruits, dried herbs, and a hint of oak emerge – warm, spicy, and deep.
• Palate: Sweet tobacco, fine sherry notes, and an earthy, rustic depth define the palate. The influence of the red wine cask brings dark berries and a subtle tannin structure that perfectly harmonizes with the velvety texture.
• Finish: Long and powerful with hints of burnt woods, matchsticks, and fireplace ash – a warm, smoky-dry echo with elegant bitterness.

Distillery/Bottler: The Auchentoshan Distillery, founded in 1823 near Glasgow, is famous for its triple distillation – a trademark that gives its whiskies special softness and purity. Typical for Auchentoshan are bright fruit aromas, fine sweetness, and elegant texture. However, this single cask bottling shows a more experimental, intense side of the distillery – deep, earthy, and with a pronounced cask profile.
