Auchentoshan American Oak is a triple-distilled Lowland single malt and, when introduced in 2014, was the distillery's first release matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 40%, it combines the light spirit with notes of vanilla, coconut and soft fruit shaped by the casks' previous bourbon fill and the American white oak.

The position of the selected casks in the warehouse contributes to the whisky's sensory range: casks stored higher up provide more spice and powerful bourbon vanilla, while those stored lower down bring softer notes of peach, citrus and coconut. After selection, the whiskies from the casks are married for several months. The result moves from lively citrus fruit and vanilla cream through white peach to a fresh finale of sugared grapefruit and delicate spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Powerful bourbon vanilla and coconut appear on the nose, accompanied by several layers of lively citrus fruit.
• Palate: The whisky is smooth yet lively on the palate, with vanilla cream, coconut and white peach.
• Finish: The finish remains fresh and clean, with sugared grapefruit and a lingering touch of delicate spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1823, Auchentoshan Distillery stands on the outskirts of Glasgow and triple-distils every drop destined for American Oak. Its new make reaches 81.5%, providing a particularly light starting point for cask maturation. The whisky matures exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and is bottled by the distillery. Auchentoshan belongs to the Suntory Global Spirits brand portfolio.
