Special Features:

Auchentoshan Three Wood combines the distillery’s characteristic triple distillation with maturation in three types of cask. The Lowland single malt matures in American ex-bourbon casks as well as Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The three cask influences contribute to a fruit-forward profile with dark fruit, sweet spice and oak.

This core expression carries no age statement and is presented at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is chill-filtered, contains colouring and comes in a gift box. The new presentation follows Auchentoshan’s packaging design introduced in 2025.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin.
• Palate: On the palate, fruit and syrup combine with hazelnut, hints of cinnamon and lemon, and butterscotch.
• Finish: The finish is lively, fruity and smooth, lingering with sweet oak; malt, creamy butterscotch and roasted hazelnuts continue to resonate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Auchentoshan operates in Glasgow and triple-distils every drop. During this process, the alcohol strength rises from around 8% in the wash to 81%. The distillery uses unpeated malted barley and matures its whiskies in bourbon, sherry or wine casks, depending on the expression. Three Wood applies this approach using three specifically named types of cask and is an official Auchentoshan bottling.

The distillery’s history can be traced back to Duntocher Distillery, founded by John Bulloch in 1817. The operation received its legal distilling licence in 1823. After it was sold to John Hart and Alexander Filshie, it was renamed Auchentoshan in 1834.
