BACARDÍ Carta Blanca combines cask maturation with the light character of a white cocktail rum. It matures in American white oak casks before being filtered through a specially formulated charcoal blend. This treatment contributes to its smooth mouthfeel. Its restrained flavour profile gives other ingredients room in cocktails without losing the rum's presence.

Subtle almond and lime notes are accompanied by vanilla. Its floral and fruity range also includes orange blossom, lavender, rose and apricot, alongside delicate coconut notes and ripe banana. The large bottle contains 3 litres of rum from Puerto Rico at 37.5% alcohol and comes without gift packaging. Carta Blanca can be used in classic cocktails such as the Mojito, Daiquiri and Cuba Libre.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bacardi's roots lie in Santiago de Cuba. There, Don Facundo Bacardí Massó bought a small distillery in 1862 and developed a lighter style of rum. The bat emblem originated with his wife, Doña Amalia, who discovered the animals in the distillery's roof beams and suggested them as the brand's symbol. In the 1930s, the company established production facilities in Mexico and Puerto Rico; its Puerto Rican distillery is located in Cataño.

Bacardi uses sugarcane molasses, water and its own yeast strain. During fermentation, the yeast converts sugar into alcohol; under the company's general production method, this stage takes between 20 and 30 hours. Distillation produces both light rum distillates and heavier, more intensely aromatic ones. By marrying these, the blenders can create different flavour profiles. Cask ageing and filtration are further tools in this approach.
