Special Features:

This five-year-old French single malt is made from French barley. It initially matures in ex-Cognac casks made from American oak and is then finished in French oak casks that previously held Aquavit. It is bottled at 42%.

The Aquavit cask links this French whisky with the house’s Norwegian roots. Fresh citrus and herbal notes, malt and a warm finish with vegetal bitterness define its character. The overall impression remains light and delicate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lemon verbena and light, fresh citrus notes mingle with white pepper and fennel.
• Palate: On the palate, fresh malt, angelica blossom and tarragon combine with gentle vanilla.
• Finish: The finish is warm and long-lasting. Vegetal bitterness and freshness mingle with oak and delicate herbal spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Maison Bache-Gabrielsen began in 1905, when Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen and his Norwegian business partner Peter Rustad acquired Maison A. Edmond Dupuy, which had been founded in 1852. Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen has managed the family house in the fourth generation since 2009.

Bache-Gabrielsen produces and officially bottles this whisky. Its initial maturation in ex-Cognac casks directly reflects the Maison’s traditional field of expertise. Since 2015, the house has also operated two storage cellars and a blending cellar in Louzac-Saint-André, bringing the storage and maturation of its eaux-de-vie entirely in-house.
