Special Features:

This heavily peated Ballechin spent its full 20-year maturation in first-fill Moscato Passito wine cask 801. The whisky was distilled on 6 February 2006 and bottled at cask strength on 13 March 2026 at 53.8%. The single cask yielded 292 bottles of 0.7 litres each; the whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Peat smoke combines with apricot, blossom honey and vanilla, accompanied by caramel, ripe stone fruit and oak spice. Cold ash, glowing embers and woody notes carry the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together layered peat smoke, ripe apricot and blossom honey with vanilla and oak spice.
• Palate: On the palate, powerful smoke and liquid caramel meet ripe stone fruit, floral honey and spicy oak.
• Finish: The finish is long, led by dry cold ash and glowing embers, with delicate oak spice alongside.

Distillery/Bottler:

Edradour Distillery produces Ballechin as its heavily peated single malt range. For this release, Signatory Vintage selected cask 801, oversaw its maturation and bottled its contents as a single-cask expression in the Ibisco range.

Edradour was founded in 1825 as a cooperative of local farmers and continues to operate on a small scale, using two copper stills and traditional water-cooled worm-tub condensers. Signatory Vintage was established by Andrew Symington in 1988. The company acquired Edradour in 2002 and had transferred all its operations to the distillery site near Pitlochry by 2007.
