Special Features:

This release from the Cask Strength Collection comes from a single first-fill Oloroso sherry butt. The whisky was distilled on 9 October 2008 and matured for 17 years in cask No. 3 before Signatory Vintage bottled it at cask strength on 14 April 2026 at 57.8%. The release comprises 671 bottles; the whisky is natural in colour and non-chill-filtered.

The Balmenach opens aromatically with raisins, dried figs, dark chocolate and orange peel. Dark fruit, roasted nuts, spices and leather add further depth to the profile. The long finish combines sherry sweetness with spicy oak.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense raisins and dried figs combine with bittersweet dark chocolate and a delicate accent of orange peel.
• Palate: On the palate, an oily texture carries notes of leather, spices and roasted nuts.
• Finish: The long finish fades with elegant sherry sweetness and a delicate trace of spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Balmenach is one of Speyside’s oldest distilleries. James MacGregor obtained one of Scotland’s early distilling licences in 1824 and founded the operation as Balminoch on Balminoch Farm.

Signatory Vintage was founded in Edinburgh in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother. Since 2007, the independent bottler has been based on the grounds of Edradour Distillery in Pitlochry. For this single-cask release, Signatory bottled the single malt distilled at Balmenach.
