Special Features:

Banditti Club is based on rum distilled on Madeira from freshly pressed sugarcane juice. In Glasgow, it matures for 12 months in oak casks and is flavoured with fresh pineapple, orange, ginger, cocoa nibs, allspice, tonka beans and black pepper. The 0.5-litre bottling has an alcohol content of 44%.

No sugar, colouring or artificial flavourings are added. The rum is not chill-filtered. Its roasted fruit notes combine with vanilla and spice notes of ginger, allspice, clove, anise and pepper.

The name recalls the Banditti Club, whose members gathered in Glasgow's pubs in the early 19th century to eat, sing and play music. The spiced rum was launched in March 2019.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, tropical fruit combines with warm spice notes. Herbal accents complement sweet vanilla and clove.
• Palate: Roasted pineapple, allspice and ginger come together on the palate. Hints of cinnamon, orange and anise add to the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish is peppery, with layered clove spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Liam Hughes and Mike Hayward founded The Glasgow Distillery Company Ltd. in December 2012. They established the distillery in a converted warehouse in Hillington, on the outskirts of Glasgow. The company takes its name from a historic Glasgow Distillery, founded in 1770 and in operation until 1902. After launching Makar Gin in 2014, the new distillery began whisky production in 2015.

The sugarcane distillate used for Banditti Club comes from Madeira. The Glasgow Distillery handles the subsequent maturation and flavouring with fruit and spices, releasing the finished spiced rum as its own bottling.
