Special Features:

Réserve du Domaine was originally reserved for the Gardère family. Since the 1960s, it has also been available outside the family, always in limited quantities. For this bottling, rum made from pure sugar cane juice matures for fifteen years in French oak casks.

The long maturation accompanies a fruity, spicy character: exotic fruits meet citrus notes, toasted almonds and pepper. The rum is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It comes in gift packaging depicting a colourful Haitian market scene.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is delicately perfumed, combining candied orange peel with toasted almonds.
• Palate: On the palate, the fruit notes recall a compote of citrus fruits and woodland berries. Exotic spices and a pinch of pepper add spicy accents.
• Finish: The finish is rounded and very long, with fruit and spices remaining present.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dupré Barbancourt founded the distillery in 1862, drawing on the Cognac tradition of his native France for double distillation and cask maturation. In 1946, Jean Gardère moved the operation to the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac. Following severe damage from the 2010 earthquake, Thierry Gardère initiated its reconstruction; the company has been wholly owned by Delphine Gardère since 2020.

La Société du Rhum Barbancourt S.A. produces its rum in Haiti and sources sugar cane from more than 3,000 small and medium-sized farms in the country. An investment project announced with BID Invest aims to supplement the energy supply with solar power and encourage the reuse of glass bottles through a recycling facility.
