BDF Single Cask Whiskey No. 3 Pot Still Whiskey 0.7 l
Special features: As the third single cask release of the “Best Drinking Friends,” a 2018 distilled Single Pot Still Whiskey was selected, which after two years in ex-bourbon barrels was aged further in a white wine barrel. The cask strength of 55.2% preserves the expressive aroma of this limited single cask, offering an exciting combination of traditional pot still character and fruity notes.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Malty and grainy with restrained fruity notes of plum, cherry, and subtle citrus notes. Warm spice notes with fine vanilla, floral-herb, and overall very straightforward and inviting.
Palate: Clear pot still character with pronounced malt sugar aroma. Dried fruits like dried kiwi, figs, and apricots accompany spicy-peppery facets that provide much complexity. Light dilution emphasizes the dried fruit notes.
Finish: Relatively quickly dry, yet remains long-lasting with dark notes of oily chocolate, almonds, and walnuts.
Distillery/Bottler: This release was created from the collaboration of three spirits experts Julia Nourney, Thorsten Frahling, and Mareike Spitzer, who together curate the “Best Drinking Friends” collection. The release reflects their detailed selection and passion for exceptional single cask whiskeys. The origin lies in Ireland, a country with a long tradition in producing high-quality pot still whiskeys.
