Special Features:

Shades of Smoke Edition No. 1 is a Benriach distilled in 1994 and matured for 31 years. Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry and Marsala casks were used for maturation, alongside new oak casks. The Speyside single malt was bottled in 2025 at 48.1%.

Yuzu, mandarin, lemon and peach give the profile its fruity side; forest honey and caramel add sweetness, while juniper smoke, dark chocolate, hibiscus and ginger provide smoky, floral and spicy contrasts.

Stefano Contiero’s digital artwork interprets the theme of shades of smoke in warm hues of orange, red and purple. The bottle is presented in a premium box.

The bottle contains 0.7 litres. The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, smoked yuzu and juniper meet honey, chocolate and forest fruits, complemented by orange-spiced caramel.
• Palate: On the palate, smoked forest honey and mandarin combine with ginger, peach and crème caramel, while wintergreen adds a cooling accent.
• Finish: Toffee, citrus fruit and spiced honey remain present in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benriach Distillery distilled the Speyside single malt in 1994; after maturation, it was bottled by the distillery in 2025 as a distillery bottling. Brown-Forman includes the Benriach brand in its portfolio.

John Duff founded Benriach in the northern Speyside region in 1898. The distillery uses four water additions during mashing. Slow distillation with a longer middle cut promotes the spirit’s fruit-led character. Alongside its classic unpeated and triple-distilled spirit, Benriach produces peated spirit once a year during Smoke Season, when Highland peat gives it a sweet, smoky woodland character.
