Benrinnes 13 yo Whiskeyheroes: Evening Blaze - Brave New Spirits

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 54.9% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Evening Blaze spent its entire maturation in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. This 13-year-old Benrinnes comes from cask 11639/048/2011 and belongs to the third release of The WhiskyHeroes series. Brave New Spirits bottled 312 bottles from the cask at 54.9%. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Caramel, vanilla, brown butter and prunes shape the whisky. Ripe apricot and dark passion fruit add to its fruit character, while orange peel, figs, leather and light tobacco broaden its aromas. The bottle comes without additional packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toffee, ripe apricot and dark passion fruit meet orange peel, nuts, leather and light tobacco. Caramel and brown butter follow, alongside vanilla and a hint of prune.
• Palate: The whisky feels full-bodied, soft and warming on the palate. Caramel, browned butter and vanilla combine with toffee, dates, figs and plums, accented by spicy oak, cinnamon and nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is creamy and rounded. Dark caramel, caramelised walnuts and concentrated dried fruit linger with sweet wood, a hint of sherry, oak spice and pepper; a subtle BBQ note joins them.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benrinnes Distillery stands at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Speyside. Its traditional worm-tub condensers contribute to its robust spirit. Brave New Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow. Founded in 2020, the company selects single casks and small batches for The WhiskyHeroes; the series’ labels draw on the style of vintage action comics.
