Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 50.8% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
This Benrinnes was distilled on 22 April 2015 and bottled in April 2026 at a total age of 11 years. During its maturation, it was finished in four first-fill Oloroso sherry butts numbered 1, 2, 3 and 6. Signatory Vintage married the casks for The Monuments of Scotland series and bottled the whisky at 50.8%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.
On the sensory side, ripe dried fruit, toffee and caramel combine with brown sugar and dark chocolate. Sherry spices and oak complement the profile. The long finish brings together fruity sweetness, dry oak and nutty depth.
The edition is dedicated to the Tomnaverie Stone Circle and is presented in an Ibisco decanter. It marked the return of The Monuments of Scotland series after a four-year hiatus. Each of the four butts used for the finish holds approximately 500 litres.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose is powerful and complex. Dark sweetness and freshly baked spice cake combine with a savoury depth.
- Palate: The palate is full-bodied and characterful. Dark sweetness and spicy hints of spice cake rest on a savoury foundation.
- Finish: The finish is long and warming. Sweet, spicy notes of spice cake remain present as the dark sweetness slowly fades, leaving a powerful impression.
Distillery/Bottler:
Benrinnes was founded in Speyside in 1826. Severe flooding necessitated its reconstruction only a few years later, while fires also shaped the distillery’s subsequent history. From 1974 to 2007, the distillery used a partial triple-distillation process; the whisky in this bottling was not distilled until 2015, after this method had been discontinued. Cold worm-tub condensers give the distillate additional weight and support the robust, full-bodied house style.
Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother as an independent bottler. After acquiring Edradour Distillery in 2002, the company gradually moved its operations there; since 2007, selection, storage and bottling have all taken place at the distillery site in Pitlochry. For this Benrinnes, Signatory Vintage assembled the four-cask small batch and handled both the Oloroso finish and the bottling.
