Distilled in 2016, this Benrinnes matured for a total of nine years. The Speyside single malt spent its final four years in 110-litre bourbon casks from Koval Distillery before Murray McDavid bottled it in 2026 at 55.2% for the Cask Partnership Series.

The four-year finish in compact Koval casks accounts for a substantial part of the whisky’s total maturation and combines Benrinnes’ robust, malty spirit with the influence of former bourbon casks from Chicago.

The edition comprises 1,249 bottles. The whisky is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dried pineapple and citrus oils shape the nose, with pastries and malt in the background.
• Palate: A smooth, dense texture carries robust roasted notes of mixed nuts and deep maltiness across the palate.
• Finish: Pepper defines the distinctive finish, accompanied by delicate lingering fruit notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1826, Benrinnes Distillery stands at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Speyside. At times in its history, the distillery used a partial triple-distillation process. Its production methods include traditional worm-tub condensers: the alcohol vapours condense inside a coiled pipe immersed in a vessel through which cold water flows. Benrinnes produced the single malt in this bottling.

Murray McDavid is an independent Scottish bottler that has worked with carefully selected finishes since the 1990s. The company operates a cask warehouse at the historic Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, providing the foundation for its maturation work. Different wine casks, oak species and finishes form part of this approach. The Cask Partnership Series focuses on collaboration with cask partners; for this edition, Murray McDavid selected bourbon casks from Koval Distillery.

Koval Distillery in Chicago matures its bourbon in small 30-gallon casks made from new American oak and charred on the inside. For this Benrinnes, 110-litre Koval casks previously used for bourbon served as cask partners during the final four years of maturation.
