Benromach 12 y.o.
Special features: The Benromach 12 years is a single malt whisky from Speyside, Scotland. It matures exclusively in first-fill sherry casks and is bottled at an alcohol content of 46% without chill filtration and coloring. This bottling is offered in a gift packaging and has a low smoke content. The distillery was founded in 1898 and reopened by Gordon & MacPhail in 1998.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose presents with spiced cinnamon rolls and cooked raisins, complemented by ginger, caramel candies, as well as a hint of citrus fruits and cocoa powder.
- Palate: On the palate, a rich fruitcake unfolds, accompanied by vibrant raspberry and orange notes, followed by freshly ground black pepper and gentle smoke.
- Finish: The finish is spicy and shows lingering black currants, a subtle menthol note, and a touch of smoke.
Distillery/Bottler: The Benromach Distillery is located in Forres, Speyside, and produces about 700,000 liters of whisky annually. The distillery uses water from the Chapelton Springs in the Romach Hills. Each cask is filled, weighed, and labeled manually. The whisky matures in traditional dunnage warehouses, contributing to the product's character.
