Benromach 12 y.o. was unveiled in September 2026 as a permanent addition to the core range. This twelve-year-old Speyside single malt complements the distillery’s existing age statements while retaining its characteristically gentle smoky style.

The whisky was matured exclusively in first-fill sherry casks. This cask selection places rich fruit and spice at the forefront: fruitcake, raspberry and orange meet black pepper, while delicate smoke balances the full-bodied character.

The whisky is bottled at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in gift packaging. It retains its natural colour and is not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Spiced cinnamon rolls and stewed raisins lead the way. Ginger and butterscotch then emerge, accompanied by citrus, cocoa powder and gentle smoke.
• Palate: Rich fruitcake initially defines the palate before vibrant orange and raspberry emerge. Black pepper, charred oak and delicate smoke add spicy accents.
• Finish: Blackcurrant lingers in the spicy finish of medium intensity, accompanied by subtle menthol and a delicate touch of smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benromach Distillery was established in 1898 in Forres, Speyside. Gordon & MacPhail acquired the distillery in 1993, restored it and resumed production in 1998. The aim was to revive a once-widespread Speyside style combining a rich single malt with a delicate smoky note.

A small distillery team employs traditional methods, guiding production through experience and sensory assessment. This artisanal approach also shapes Benromach 12 y.o., combining the pronounced influence of first-fill sherry casks with the spirit’s gentle smoke.
