Special Features:

This limited official bottling for Wu Dram Clan combines the whiskies from two first-fill sherry casks and two first-fill bourbon barrels, all distilled in 2003. After 22 years of maturation, the whiskies from the four casks were brought together and bottled in 2025 at a cask strength of 55%. The release comprises 1,076 bottles. The whisky retained its natural colour and was not chill-filtered.

The bourbon barrels contribute mango, papaya and coconut, as well as smoke and a salty depth. Raisins, hazelnuts, dark chocolate and an earthy, mineral character mark the influence of the sherry casks. Together, they carry the whisky from bright fruit, citrus and honey towards darker cask notes, tobacco, leather and pepper. Overall, the smoke remains a delicate companion, although individual impressions reveal it more distinctly as mature peat smoke, ash and smoked fruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Green apple, lemon zest, vanilla and honey form the bright opening. Behind them emerge mature peat smoke, smoked strawberry, paprika and menthol, followed by teak, cigar box and tobacco.
• Palate: The whisky feels creamy, silky and oily on the palate, with raisins, dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts. Savoury roasted notes combine with leather, black pepper, fine ash and a tart bitter-orange note.
• Finish: The medium-long to long finish remains earthy, smoky and spicy. Cocoa and tobacco linger alongside ripe fruit, becoming drier towards the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benromach was founded in Forres in 1898. Gordon & MacPhail acquired the distillery in 1993 and reopened it in 1998 following renovation. This Speyside single malt is handcrafted using long fermentation, brewer’s and distiller’s yeast, and double distillation. A delicate touch of peat smoke is as much a part of the house style as the preference for maturation in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. This edition is an official bottling for Wu Dram Clan.
