Benromach Contrasts Organic matured for nine years in first-fill virgin American oak casks. Distilled in 2015, the whisky was bottled in 2025. Ripe banana, sweet malt and toffee meet spices, roasted coffee, dry oak and cocoa.

Benromach introduced its Soil Association-certified organic range in 2006. This non-smoky single malt is made from organic malted barley. The whisky has its natural colour, is not chill-filtered and is offered at 46% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres, with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe banana, creamy toffee and delicate vanilla mingle with hints of cocoa powder and oak.
• Palate: Sweet malt and grain shape the mouthfeel, while pepper, cinnamon, banana and roasted coffee add spicy and fruity accents.
• Finish: The long finish is dry and woody, with cocoa, toffee and a subtle peppery note.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Benromach distillery was built in Forres in 1898, acquired by Gordon & MacPhail in 1993 and reopened in 1998. During mashing, the team manually controls the flow of water from Chapelton Spring, the stirring speed and the water temperature. For fermentation, the distillery uses larch-wood washbacks and both brewer's and distiller's yeast; fermentation lasts three to five days. The spirit is then distilled twice in copper pot stills, with the team setting the cut points. Benromach fills its casks by hand and stores them in traditional dunnage warehouses. Benromach also distilled this single malt; after nine years of cask maturation, the whisky was bottled by the distillery itself.
