Special features: This single malt whisky from the renowned Benromach Distillery presents an impressive phenol content of 57 ppm, making it one of the smokiest releases from the distillery. The 9-year maturation in first-fill bourbon casks gives it a complex array of flavors. It was bottled in 2024, with no chill filtration or coloring used to preserve the natural flavors.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense smoke, accompanied by fragrant vanilla and a hint of citrus peels. A subtle apple note develops, complemented by white chocolate.
- Palate: Smooth with notes of roasted oak, honey, and sweet, ripe fruits. Flavors of butterscotch and marshmallow lead to a lemon sorbet, enveloped in sweet smoke.
- Finish: Mouth-coating sweetness, accompanied by the warmth of a campfire glow.
Distillery/Bottler: The Benromach Distillery, founded in 1898, is located in the Scottish Speyside and is known for its traditional production methods. Under the management of Gordon & MacPhail, the distillery was reopened in 1998 and has since built a reputation for high-quality single malts.
