Special Features:

Tropical maturation shapes this single-cask release from Distillerie Bielle. The 2015 vintage rum matured on Marie-Galante in an ex-bourbon cask from April 2015 to March 2022. It was then transported to Europe and bottled in August 2022 for the Rasta Morris range. Cask RM030 yielded 270 bottles at 56.2% alcohol. The rum is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Alongside citrus fruit and herbs, there are floral and tropical fruit notes. Caramel and sugar cane link these impressions with wood and peppery spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is fresh and herbal, with a light lemon note. Floral aromas, vanilla, grass and pineapple add further detail.
• Palate: On the palate, lemon and other citrus fruits sit alongside bitter herbs. Pepper, spices and tropical fruit round out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long, leaving fruity and herbal notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bielle is located near Grand-Bourg on Marie-Galante in the Guadeloupe archipelago. The distillery makes rhum agricole from sugar cane juice. The cane comes mainly from surrounding plantations, is harvested by hand and is pressed promptly. The fibres left after pressing, known as bagasse, fuel the boiler. The distillery's development is linked to changes on the island: as small-scale sugar production declined in importance, rum production took its place.

Selection and bottling are handled by Asta Morris, Bert Bruyneel's Belgian company. He founded it in 2009, initially focusing on articles and tastings. Its first bottling followed in 2010 with a 1977 vintage Glenlivet. The initial focus on whisky developed into a broader range, with rum bottlings released under the Rasta Morris name. Bielle is the producing distillery, while Asta Morris is the independent bottler.
