The Flora & Fauna series presents Blair Athol as a Highland single malt in its own right, matured for twelve years. The whisky matures in sherry casks and is bottled at 43% alcohol. A light minty, herbal accent accompanies its fruity and spicy sherry notes.

It has a medium to full body without seeming overly sweet. The interplay of dry and sweet impressions is especially apparent in the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, Muscat grapes and Madeira meet dried apricot and toffee with dark sugar syrup. A sulphury note and a hint of tar emerge in the background.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is rich and mouth-filling, yet balanced.
• Finish: The finish is initially slightly tart and rather dry; then an unexpected sweetness emerges.

Distillery/Bottler:

Blair Athol Distillery has stood in Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands since 1798. It draws its water from the Allt Dour and processes unpeated malt in a mash tun. During fermentation, which lasts around 50 hours, the yeast contributes to the distillate’s nutty and fruity notes. Alongside its own single malt, the distillery supplies whisky for Bell’s Blended Scotch. Diageo operates the distillery and releases the twelve-year-old whisky as a distillery bottling in the Flora & Fauna series.
