Special Features:

The Essence of Islay edition is an 11-year-old official Bowmore bottling for international travel retail. The whisky matured in ex-bourbon and Spanish oak sherry casks. It was bottled in 2025 at 40%.

Walnut brittle, dark chocolate and fresh sourdough bread provide nutty and dark accents. Red berries, lemon, mango, pepper and nutmeg add fruit and spice. Resinous pine, subtle maritime salinity and smoke define the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines sweet lemon tuile and walnut brittle with dried red fruit. Liquorice root, fresh sourdough bread and earthy smoke complete the aroma.
• Palate: Candied lemon, fresh mango, crushed peppercorns and dark chocolate emerge on the palate. Pine resin leads into robust, characterful peat smoke.
• Finish: Campfire smoke, velvety lemon cream and aromatic pine linger throughout the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bowmore Distillery is located in the village of Bowmore on Loch Indaal. The distillery traces its history back to 1779 and is regarded as Islay’s oldest distillery. Its historic site includes the No.1 Vault, situated directly on the shore of the loch.

Bowmore operates its own floor maltings, where the barley is turned by hand every four hours. Peat smoke then dries the malt in the kiln and shapes its characteristic smoky flavour. The distillery produced this single malt; after eleven years of maturation, the whisky was bottled in 2025 as an official bottling.
