Bowmore 15 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is part of the Sherry Oak Collection introduced in 2024. This Islay Single Malt matures for at least 15 years in a combination of European Oloroso sherry casks and American oak ex-bourbon casks. It then receives a finish in European oak casks previously filled with Oloroso. The whisky is bottled at 43% and comes in gift packaging.

Maturation in first-fill Oloroso casks enhances the sweetness of this expression. Dark dried fruits, cocoa and gentle spices shape its sherry-led character, with subtle peat smoke providing a counterpoint. A mineral note adds to the interplay.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cocoa beans mingle with juicy currants and sweet dates. Cinnamon and dark chocolate complement the fruit, accompanied by subtle smoke.
• Palate: A lively liquorice root note stands out on the palate. Cedarwood, dark sugar syrup toffee, candy sweetness and clove add further flavours.
• Finish: The finish is rich and woody, with sweet spice notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

First documented in 1779, Bowmore is Islay's oldest distillery. It stands on the shores of Loch Indaal, alongside the historic No.1 Vaults. On its own malting floors, the barley is turned by hand every four hours. During the subsequent kiln drying, peat smoke contributes to the characteristic flavour.

Bowmore uses six large Oregon pine vessels for fermentation. The spirit is then distilled in four stills; only the selected heart cut goes into casks for maturation. Bowmore produces the whisky, and the 15 Year Old Sherry Oak Cask is an official distillery bottling. The brand belongs to Suntory Global Spirits.
