Special Features:

This Bowmore from the Timeless Series brings together two cask influences: European oak casks previously used for sherry and American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The casks were filled in 1991 and 1992, and the single malt matured for 29 years. Dark fruits, including notes reminiscent of raisins soaked in sherry, combine with cocoa and bitter orange. On the palate, sweetness, peat and sea salt sit alongside one another.

Introduced in 2023, this edition comprises 3,000 bottles worldwide and was bottled at a cask strength of 53.7%. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The black presentation box takes the shape of an hourglass and contains a three-minute hourglass alongside the 0.7-litre bottle. It invites you to spend three minutes exploring the nose before taking the first sip. The release was created in collaboration with pianist and composer Hania Rani.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals dark fruits and sweet cocoa notes. Bitter orange, cherry blossom and liquorice add to the bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, pronounced sweetness combines with peat and sea salt. The flavour is rich and layered.
• Finish: The long finish initially warms the mouth. The peat then leaves a dry impression, while salt remains on the lips.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bowmore stands on the shores of Loch Indaal on Islay and is the island's oldest distillery. Its first documented mention dates to 1779. David Simson, who had already leased land in 1766, invested in improvements including a water supply from the River Laggan. In the 19th century, William and James Mutter expanded the small operation into a larger commercial distillery.

Bowmore operates its own floor maltings, where the barley is turned by hand every four hours. Peat is used when drying the malt, contributing to its smoky character. Fermentation takes place in six large Oregon pine vessels. Four stills are used for distillation, and only the heart of the spirit is selected for filling into casks. Its historic warehouses include the No. 1 Vaults, directly on the shores of Loch Indaal.
