Bruichladdich Organic Barley 16 Year Old puts organically grown Scottish barley from Mid Coul Farm in Dalcross centre stage. Introduced to travel retail in 2025, this non-smoky Islay single malt matured exclusively in bourbon casks for 16 years. It is bottled at 50% in a 0.7-litre bottle, retains its natural colour and is non-chill filtered.

The exclusive use of bourbon casks is intended to support the organic barley’s creamy cereal sweetness without obscuring its character. Ripe orchard and tropical fruit, citrus zest and coconut mingle with fresh pastries, sweet malt and crème brûlée. Honey, vanilla custard, warm straw notes and toffee popcorn lead into almond, gentle oak and a restrained, malty finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, apricot, pear and apple meet fresh pastries, sweet malt, crème brûlée, caramel and coconut. Delicate oak spice, floral and tropical accents and a hint of citrus complete the aromatic profile.
• Palate: The whisky is creamy and cereal-led on the palate. Honey, vanilla custard, caramel, warm straw notes, sweet toffee popcorn and citrus zest are balanced by restrained oak.
• Finish: Almond, sweet toffee, malty warmth, subtle oak and bright fruit linger through the warming finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bruichladdich Distillery produced this whisky on Islay and bottled it there as an official distillery bottling. Its 16-year maturation also took place on the island.

The Harvey brothers founded the distillery in 1881. After closing in 1994, it was revived in 2001 by Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Jim McEwan; Bruichladdich has belonged to Rémy Cointreau since 2012.

With Organic Barley 16 Year Old, Bruichladdich brings its focus on barley provenance to a travel-retail bottling matured entirely in bourbon casks. The edition was launched in March 2025, initially as a two-month exclusive at Singapore Changi Airport.
