Thirty years of maturation exclusively in ex-sherry casks define this Bunnahabhain whisky. The casks rested in the distillery’s coastal warehouses on Islay. It is part of the core range, where it first appeared as the initial batch of the 30-year-old expression.

Sherry sweetness, berries and creamy notes meet mature oak spice. Bunnahabhain bottles the whisky at 46.3% without chill filtration or added colour; its colour is natural. The bottle comes in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, butterscotch and beeswax mingle with sweet sherry.
• Palate: Strawberries and cream come to the fore first. Notes of honeyed, nutty grain and rich toffee develop gradually.
• Finish: The gentle finish brings stewed berries and ginger. Spiced oak and salted caramel linger, alternating in the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bunnahabhain stands on Islay’s remote north-east coast beside the Sound of Islay and is the island’s northernmost distillery. William Robertson founded it in 1881 with the brothers William and James Greenlees; whisky production began in 1883. The distillery and its settlement developed together, with homes and roads for the workers. Until 1960, the site was accessible only by boat.

The distillery uses spring water from the Margadale Spring. Its tall, pear-shaped stills have long necks that favour a lighter spirit character. Bunnahabhain is particularly known for its predominantly unpeated house style; the whisky in this distillery bottling matured in its coastal warehouses.
