A finish in rare Malaga wine casks adds tropical fruit, honey and warm spice to the vanilla sweetness developed in bourbon casks by this triple-distilled Irish Single Malt. The whiskey matures for at least 14 years, using first- and second-fill bourbon barrels before a final maturation of up to twelve months in Malaga wine casks. This final stage forms part of the total maturation period and builds on the bourbon cask maturation rather than replacing it.

This official bottling has an alcohol content of 40% and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. The whiskey is chill-filtered, not smoky and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, honey, vanilla and mandarin mingle with warm spice.
• Palate: On the palate, mango, pineapple and apricot meet delicate hints of ginger, cinnamon, milk chocolate, vanilla and warm caramel. Subtle oak and floral notes follow.
• Finish: The long, clean finish reveals vanilla, apricot and mandarin, giving way to warm spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Old Bushmills Distillery produces this Single Malt under the Bushmills brand. It is located just a few miles from Ireland’s northern coast. For its Single Malts, the distillery uses only malted barley and distils three times in copper pot stills. Distillation, maturation and bottling all take place at the same Bushmills site.

The local distilling tradition can be traced back to a licence granted in 1608. The name Bushmills refers to the former mills on the River Bush, whose water is used to make the whiskey. Following a fire in 1885, the distillery was rebuilt and production resumed.
