Its high malt content and maturation in former Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks give Black Bush its rich, fruity style. The blend contains 80% single malt and 20% lighter grain whiskey. The malt is triple-distilled, while its combination with grain whiskey contributes to the bottling’s smooth character.

The sherry casks bring dried fruit, raisins and nutty notes to Black Bush. Chocolate and cinnamon join vanilla, honey and caramel. The whiskey combines aromatic depth with a silky texture and a sweet finish. This original bottling contains 1 litre of whiskey at 40% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, pronounced sherry sweetness and raisins mingle with fruitcake notes. Vanilla, honey and fresh fruit complete the aroma.
• Palate: Black Bush feels silky and nutty on the palate. Dark chocolate and raisins meet other dried fruits, including figs and dates, alongside caramel sweetness and a little cinnamon.
• Finish: The long, smooth finish retains a lingering sweetness; oak and caramel linger alongside a touch of spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Old Bushmills Distillery stands beside the River Bush in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The area’s licensing history reaches back to 1608, when Sir Thomas Phillipps received permission to distil and sell spirits in the region. Bushmills continues to use copper stills and triple-distilled malt whiskey.
