For Golden Caramel Whiskey Liqueur, Destille Kaltenthaler combines its butterscotch liqueur with whiskey previously matured in old wooden casks. Honeyed caramel sweetness and a creamy texture meet robust malt. Vanilla, allspice and oak add a spicy counterpoint to the caramel.

The whiskey base contains malted barley and other grains. The finished liqueur is bottled at 25% alcohol in 0.5-litre bottles. It is vegan and can be enjoyed over ice or in cocktails. In the Bonnies Love cocktail, for example, it is combined with orange juice and sparkling wine.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Intense caramel leads on the nose, accompanied by sweetish malt notes.
• Palate: The liqueur feels creamy and full-bodied on the palate. Toffee, caramel pudding and malt sweets meet subtle oak spice.
• Finish: The sweetness persists on the long finish, with a lingering note of liquid caramel.

Distillery/Bottler:

Destille Kaltenthaler is based in Westhofen in Rheinhessen. Felix Georg Kaltenthaler runs the family business in its third generation and first learned the craft of distilling as a teenager at his parents’ winery. Alongside its own brands, including Revolte Rum and Momotaro Spirits, the company develops and produces spirits for other clients. Its work ranges from small production runs to concepts for grocery retailers.
