Fresh sugarcane juice and double distillation define Nêga Fulô. This cachaça comes from Fazenda Soledade in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Only fresh juice from locally grown sugarcane is used for this bottling, which is distilled in pot stills.

The bottle stands out for its woven straw covering. It contains 0.7 litres of cachaça at 41.5% alcohol. Its sugarcane character and subtle sweetness can be appreciated neat; it can also be mixed with limes, sugar and crushed ice to make a Caipirinha.

Distillery/Bottler:

Fazenda Soledade is located near Nova Friburgo in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The company began producing cachaça in 1977 and launched Nêga Fulô as its first brand. The Bastos Ribeiro brothers remain directly involved in managing the company and ensuring quality.

For the second distillation, the fazenda works in small batches using copper pot stills. The previously selected distillate is diluted with mountain water for this stage. During the slow distillation, the heads, heart and tails are separated; only the heart is used in the subsequent blends. Alongside monitoring heat input, temperatures and alcohol content, the distillery team assesses the spirit by smell and taste to determine the cut points.
