Callington Mill Solera Single Malt
Special features: The Callington Mill Solera Single Malt Whisky is a masterpiece of cask artistry, inspired by the sherry tradition of Andalusia. By applying the Solera system, where different vintages and cask types are blended together, a complex and elegant whisky is created. The maturation takes place in 14 different cask types, including Tokay, Australian Port, Amontillado, Brandy, Bourbon, Ex-Muscadelle, Ex-Rum, Palo Cortado, Madeira, Moscatel, Cognac, Sherry Butt Ex-Cream, Australian Brandy, and Tawny. This variety gives the Solera remarkable depth and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Delicate orange blossoms and mandarin peels combine with fine notes of marzipan and toasted oak. Behind them, nuances of vanilla almond and damp forest earth unfold – profound and elegantly intertwined.
Palate: Lively and smooth. An intense opening of bitter orange and smoky oak opens up to a creamy-buttery texture. Vanilla and mandarin dance in perfect balance, supported by a fine, spicy-woody structure – complex, harmonious, and velvety at the same time.
Finish: Long and persistent, with notes of mandarin peel, honeycomb, and fine oak wood. Sweetness and dryness merge in an elegant, slightly sparkling finale.
Distillery/Bottler: The Callington Mill Distillery is located in historic Oatlands, Tasmania, and was founded in 2022. It uses local ingredients and combines traditional production methods with state-of-the-art technology to create authentic Tasmanian Single Malts. The name "Callington Mill" refers to the restored windmill from 1837, which is considered a landmark of the region and now serves as a visitor center.
