Special Features:

This Caol Ila matured for 18 years in a single refill hogshead. The whisky was distilled on 23 August 2006 and bottled from cask 307354 on 24 April 2025. The 271 bottles contain whisky at 52.5% ABV; it is neither coloured nor chill-filtered and comes in gift packaging.

Smoke and coastal notes shape its character. Lemon, vanilla and marzipan also emerge; on the palate, caramel sweetness meets peat and spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sea air and soft peat smoke meet vanilla. Iodine, preserved lemon, seaweed, beach pebbles and the earthy scent of rain also emerge. A hint of marzipan adds a sweet accent.
• Palate: The whisky feels rounded and full on the palate, with an oily texture. Caramel sweetness combines with peat, dry smoke, soft vanilla and black pepper. Charcoal, lemon zest, salt and a hint of menthol complete the flavour.
• Finish: The long finish brings coastal saltiness, seaweed and ashy smoke. Pepper and a suggestion of scallops linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Caol Ila stands beside the Sound of Islay near Port Askaig and has produced whisky there since 1846. The distillery is known for its coastal, peaty style.

Elixir Distillers bottled this whisky for its independent single-cask series, The Single Malts of Scotland, which has released selected casks since 2005. The company's cask selection began in 2002 with a single-cask bottling by co-founder Sukhinder Singh. In 2017, the bottling business previously known as Speciality Drinks was renamed Elixir Distillers.
