Special Features:

The whisky spent its entire nine-year maturation in new American oak barrels. This choice of cask gives the smoky Caol Ila notes of vanilla, wood spices, toasted oak and a creamy depth.

Five barrels were selected for this small batch. The whisky was released in 2025 at 48%, with no added colouring and without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines delicate peat smoke, a maritime breeze and lively citrus notes with gentle vanilla sweetness.
• Palate: Robust smoke leads on the palate, while lemon, delicate vanilla and peppery spice provide fresh, sweet and spicy accents. The texture is creamy, with saline minerality and toasted oak adding further depth.
• Finish: The long finish fades with salty maritime notes, peat smoke, spices and lively citrus accents.

Distillery/Bottler:

Caol Ila was founded on Islay’s north-eastern coast in 1846 and rebuilt in the early 1970s. Its six stills were recreated in their previous form to preserve the distillery’s profile; the malt comes from Port Ellen and the water from Loch nam Ban.

Elixir Distillers bottled this whisky for The Single Malts of Scotland range. The company has managed the range since 2005, placing the individual character of Scottish distilleries and selected casks at its heart. For this Caol Ila bottling, five new American oak barrels were brought together as a small batch.
