Special features: This 14-year-old Caol Ila was distilled in April 2011 and bottled in August 2025 by North Star Spirits in the "Obscurities & Curiosities" series. It matured in three refill hogsheads and was bottled at 48.5% ABV, without chill filtration and without coloring.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Finely woven smoke, accompanied by sea salt, cool sea air, fresh grain, lemon zest, and delicate vanilla.
- Palate: Elegant and precise, with prominent smoke, salty minerality, fine vanilla sweetness, citrus freshness, and bright malt.
- Finish: Long, dry, and clear, with a fine ash note, carried by salt, citrus, and grain.
Distillery/Bottler: Caol Ila, founded in 1846 on Islay, is known for its maritime, peaty, and often more elegant single malts. North Star Spirits, an independent bottler, was founded in 2016 and specializes in exceptional cask selections and unique characters.
