Special Features:

Captain Cane XO Reserve is a rum-based spirit made from long-aged molasses distillates from Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean. The rums are distilled in pot and column stills and matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Oldman Spirits combines them into a sweet, smooth blend, bottled at 40%.

Cask maturation gives the rich sweetness a supporting structure: rock sugar, dark honey and creamy vanilla meet oak, delicate spice and restrained exotic fruit. Subtle roasted notes round out the profile. XO Reserve is the longer-aged expression in the Captain Cane range.

The bottle is made entirely from recycled PCR glass and carries a wood-free label made from sugarcane fibres. The black tube, decorated with gold nautical motifs, is made from FSC-certified cardboard. The blend is suited to drinking neat at room temperature, in a variation on the Mai Tai, or with lime and ginger beer.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, rock sugar and dark honey mingle with candyfloss and a hint of oak.
• Palate: On the palate, the vanilla sweetness feels gentle and creamy. Oak gives it depth, while subtle exotic fruit notes remain in the background.
• Finish: The finish feels velvety, with lingering dark sweetness and delicate spice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Oldman Spirits GmbH in Jübek creates the blend from Caribbean rum distillates and bottles Captain Cane XO Reserve. The Captain Cane brand was developed jointly with Kirsch Import. The underlying molasses distillates come from the Caribbean and are produced in pot and column stills.

Thomas Altmann founded Oldman Spirits in 2014 in Schleswig-Holstein, near Flensburg. Spirits of Old Man and Flensburg Rum Company also belong to the business. Oldman Spirits develops rum blends, releases single-cask bottlings and provides bottling services for other brands. Its own cask warehouse and semi-automatic and fully automatic bottling equipment support this work; depending on the bottle and the order, bottling is also carried out by hand.
