Its name honors Pedro González de Mendoza, a significant figure of the 15th century and close confidant of Queen Isabella I of Spain. This brandy is made from a careful selection of the best "Holandas" – the finest grape brandies distilled using the traditional pot-still method. The aging takes place in the Solera and Criadera system, with the distillates aging for an average of 15 years in barrels made of American oak that were previously seasoned with Oloroso and Pedro-Ximénez sherry. This process gives the brandy its characteristic reddish color and complex aromas.
