In Liqueur de Cocody, Joseph Cartron combines coconut with rum to create a colourless liqueur. The rum contributes to its exotic character and lasting flavour, while coconut remains the focus. The liqueur is bottled at 21% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

Its fresh, soft character makes it particularly suited to creamy cocktails. Despite its sweet, milky impressions, the liqueur does not feel heavy: a clear fruit note defines the flavour more than aromatic intensity.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals an open, tropical aroma reminiscent of coconut milk.
• Palate: The liqueur opens cleanly and freshly on the palate. Gentle sweetness combines with fresh milky notes and vanilla. The flavour is delicate and balanced, with a clear fruit note taking precedence over aromatic intensity.
• Finish: The finish remains balanced and does not feel heavy. The aftertaste lingers for a long time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Joseph Cartron founded the house in 1882 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. Still based there, the liqueur producer became particularly known for its Crème de Cassis de Bourgogne, made from local blackcurrants. Today, Judith Cartron continues the family tradition in the fifth generation.

For its fruit liqueurs, the house works with Burgundy fruit growers through relationships developed over generations. Ingredients that do not grow in the region are also sourced from other countries. Depending on the recipe, fruits and botanicals are macerated either cold in stainless steel vessels or with heat in a copper still. The duration, sugar quantity and alcohol strength are tailored to each ingredient; these different methods form part of the house's production approach.
