Special Features:

Fruit pulp is an integral part of Joseph Cartron's mango liqueur. Leaving it unfiltered preserves the substance of the mango, which can also be felt when drinking it. Alongside the mango flavour, a peppery hint provides a spicy counterpoint. In the glass, the liqueur is pale yellow with a slightly milky appearance.

The liqueur contains 25% alcohol and is offered here in a 0.7-litre bottle. Its exotic fruit character also lends itself to cocktails: the Jungle Mango, for example, combines it with white rum, Campari, pineapple juice and lime juice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is expressive, with ripe, exotic fruit notes.
• Palate: On the palate, the liqueur is soft and full-bodied. Its fibrous texture recalls fruit pulp and enhances the fruity impression, while light peppery notes complement the flavour. Pronounced exotic fruit aromas also emerge when breathing out through the nose.
• Finish: The finish remains gentle and sweet, with a pronounced fruity conclusion.

Distillery/Bottler:

Joseph Cartron founded his company in 1882 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. In its early years, the business supplied local restaurants and cafés with lemonade and soda water while also producing liqueurs such as Marasquin, cocoa liqueur and caraway liqueur. Its own Double Crème de Cassis was particularly influential and soon became a house speciality.

The expertise passed down through five generations now encompasses fruit liqueurs and crèmes de fruits as well as fruit spirits, Marc and Fine de Bourgogne. The company thus combines liqueur production with spirits from the region's winegrowing tradition. Fruit selection is an important part of its work; for the mango liqueur, deliberately retaining the pulp is a specific choice that gives it a full-bodied texture.
