This Master's Selection presents rum from the John Dore 1 as a single-cask bottling for La Maison du Whisky's New Vibrations collection. St. Lucia Distillers distilled it in 2010 in this double-retort pot still. It then matured for eleven years in an ex-bourbon cask.

The rum from cask 0295032010 yielded 207 numbered bottles. It has an alcohol content of 61.1% and was bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in natural-coloured gift packaging with a display window.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The rich bouquet combines coconut and strawberries with oak.
• Palate: Woody notes stand out on the palate, accompanied by raisins and brown sugar.
• Finish: Grapefruit and orange peel define the long-lasting finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

St. Lucia Distillers is based in the Roseau Valley on St. Lucia. The company was established in 1972 through the merger of the distilleries in Dennery and Roseau. Chairman's Reserve traces its origins to Laurie Barnard: under his leadership, a rum blending matured distillates from continuous distillation and pot stills was created in 1999.

The Master's Selection range focuses on individually selected casks. Its concept was developed jointly by the master blender and cellar master after they discovered distinctive casks of rum in the warehouses. Cellar master Cyril Mangal personally selects the casks. The range explores different aromatic expressions arising from various fermentation and distillation methods; selected blends also form part of the concept for some bottlings.
