The 2025 Paris Edition explores the connection between Tokyo and Paris through six label designs. The Asakusa design, reference 68872A, is paired with Montmartre. The cuvée was composed from 17 casks and is limited to 2,484 bottles. It combines components aged between five and fourteen years and was bottled at 50.5%.

For the composition, Chichibu selected four new French oak casks, one Spanish ex-Sherry cask, three French ex-Bordeaux red wine casks, one American oak Hogshead, six Bourbon Barrels and two Bourbon Barrels that had previously held heavily peated whisky. The final two casks contribute to the lightly peated and smoky character. The malty core combines tropical and dark fruit with earthy notes of mushrooms and fallen leaves, as well as lemon, wax and stone fruit; herbs bring fresh definition to the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rich and creamy. Passion fruit, lychee and mango appear first, followed by dark berries, grapes and blackberries alongside cinnamon, dry leaves, porcini mushrooms and a trace of prune. White flowers, a light malty bitterness, delicate wood notes and a gentle hint of peat complete the aroma.
• Palate: The whisky begins on the palate with an oily texture and a creamy, peaty, lively, lemony and peppery character. Honey and wax then lead into an increasingly creamy texture. Toast, rusks and barley porridge are accompanied by mirabelle plum and damson; vanilla, cocoa and delicate smoke round out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is concentrated and long. The malty notes return with gentian, mint, eucalyptus and sage. Passion fruit and candied plum gradually give way to toffee and Bourbon vanilla. White pepper, cinnamon and a delicate woody note provide the spicy conclusion.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ichiro Akuto founded Venture Whisky in 2004, launched Ichiro's Malt in 2005 and began operating the Chichibu Distillery in 2008. The distillery is located in Saitama Prefecture. Its production draws on Chichibu's climatic conditions and uses fermentation vats made from Japanese Mizunara oak.

For this edition, the Chichibu Distillery produced the malt, composed the cuvée from the 17 selected casks and bottled the whisky itself. Released annually since 2018, the Paris Edition celebrates the connection between Paris and Tokyo.
