Limited to 2,484 bottles, this Paris Edition pairs Montmartre with Asakusa as one of three illustrated pairings across six stamp-inspired labels. Each design contains the same cuvée of whiskies aged from five to fourteen years, drawn from 17 casks. The composition comprises four new French oak casks, one Spanish ex-sherry cask, three French ex-Bordeaux red wine casks, one American hogshead, six bourbon barrels and two bourbon barrels that previously held heavily peated whisky.

The finished cuvée is lightly peated and has an oily texture. Tropical fruit and forest floor lead into citrus, wax and toast, followed by fresh herbs and toffee in the long finish. The whisky is bottled at 50.5% without chill filtration or added colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is opulent and velvety, with passion fruit, lychee and mango alongside grapes and dark berries such as blackberries. White flowers, cinnamon, forest floor, dried leaves and prunes mingle with a slight malty bitterness and subtle peaty smoke.
• Palate: The palate is oily and lively. Pronounced peat, lemon and pepper are balanced by honey and wax, followed by toast, barley porridge, mirabelle plum, apricot and damson. Vanilla, cocoa and delicate smoke round out the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is long and harmonious. The malty notes from the nose and palate return, accompanied by gentian, mint, eucalyptus and sage. Passion fruit, candied plum, salted butter caramel, toffee and Bourbon vanilla complete the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Ichiro Akuto founded Chichibu Distillery in 2008. The distillery produces the Japanese single malt, Venture Whisky Ltd manages the Chichibu brand, and the Paris Edition is an official bottling. Chichibu has dedicated an annual edition to the city of Paris since 2018; the 2025 designs connect Japanese and Parisian neighbourhoods in three illustrated pairings.
