Special features: This limited edition from the renowned Chichibu distillery celebrates the cultural connection between Paris and Tokyo by uniting the spirit of the Parisian district of Montmartre with the art of Japanese whisky. The 2025 edition is the result of a complex assemblage of 19 casks, including new French oak casks, a Spanish sherry cask, and casks that previously contained Bordeaux red wine. The six labels in this series, inspired by Japan's Kawaii culture and postmarks, symbolize the cultural correspondence between the two metropolises.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: An opulent and velvety bouquet with exotic fruits like passion fruit, lychee, and mango, complemented by red berries such as grapes and blackberries. Undertones of forest floor, dried leaves, and a hint of dried plum jam add depth. Spicy notes of cinnamon, a slight malty bitterness, as well as floral aromas of white flowers and a subtle peat smokiness enrich the overall profile.
• Palate: The entry is rich, generously peaty, lively, and citrus-fresh with a hint of pepper. The flavor develops into honeyed and waxy nuances, gaining volume and presenting flavors of toasted bread, toast, malty notes (like porridge), and a tasty fruitiness of mirabelles and apricots. Vanilla, cocoa, and a fine smoke round off the profile.
• Finish: Long and harmonious, with the malty tones from the nose and palate reappearing. Fresh notes of gentian, mint, eucalyptus, and sage enliven the finish. The character remains both tropical (passion fruit) and candied (plum), gradually enveloped by caramel with salted butter and bourbon vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler: The Chichibu distillery was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto and has since established itself as a pioneer in Japanese whisky. With an annual production of about 90,000 bottles, the distillery places great emphasis on artisanal craftsmanship and the selection of high-quality casks to unfold the complexity and depth of its whiskies. The Paris Edition is a tribute to the City of Lights and reflects the cultural connection between Paris and Tokyo.
