Special Features:

Chicken Cock Kentucky Straight Rye is made from 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey is distilled in Kentucky, matured for at least two years and bottled at 45%.

The rye recipe brings together light-coloured fruit and vanilla with toasted oak, mint and white pepper. The casks are prepared with a Medium+ toast and a level 3 char. The whiskey is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, apple and citrus notes mingle with toasted oak. Cinnamon and vanilla round out the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, pear, peach and vanilla meet honey, creamy butterscotch and rye spice. Spearmint and pepper add to the flavour, while subtle citrus and oak notes accompany a slight dryness. The mouthfeel is creamy.
• Finish: The very long finish fades slowly with pepper. A delicate honey sweetness and a buttery mouthfeel linger alongside it.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bardstown Bourbon Company produces Chicken Cock for brand owner Grain & Barrel Spirits through its Collaborative Distilling Program and handles cask storage. Master Distiller Gregg Snyder oversees wood selection and production. The collaboration includes bespoke specifications for grains, enzymes, cooking times and temperatures, as well as monitoring distillation. Bardstown Bourbon Company provides the facilities, staff and warehouses.

Chicken Cock's history leads back to Paris, Kentucky, where James A. Miller built his distillery in 1856. In the early 2010s, Matti Anttila, founder of Grain & Barrel Spirits, discovered a historical bottle at the Oscar Getz Museum in Bardstown and initiated the brand's revival. Today's bottle, with its chicken-wire-style glass pattern, draws on the design of bottles sold during Prohibition.
