Special Features:

A finish in a Ruby Port cask shapes this limited Clonakilty bottling. Distilled in 2019, the single pot still whiskey first matured in ex-bourbon casks above the cliffs of Galley Head. It moved to a Ruby Port cask for finishing in May 2023. The bottling yielded 96 bottles at 57.9% alcohol.

Port sweetness and dark berries bring a fruity character to the whiskey. Nutty notes, dark chocolate, malt and spice add further layers.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings nutty notes, port and sweetness, accompanied by a little spice and dark berries.
• Palate: On the palate, dark chocolate and port sweetness mingle with malt notes and the spice of pot still whiskey.
• Finish: The finish is long and remains spicy.

Distillery/Bottler:

Clonakilty Distillery is in County Cork, Ireland. The Scully family, which has farmed the coastal land for nine generations, founded the distillery in 2016. It has its own facilities for maturation, blending and bottling.

For its regular 46% single pot still whiskey, Clonakilty uses malted and unmalted barley from County Cork and distils it three times. For that release, the distillery extends fermentation and adds water slowly during its so-called Gentle Cut.
