Special Features:

The rosé Champagne cask finish shapes this seven-year-old single-cask bottling from the Vibrant Stills series. Distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2026, this Lowland Single Malt comes from cask F14, is limited to 340 bottles and was bottled at 55%. The edition was created for the German market; during the joint cask selection by Clydeside and Alba Import, F14 stood out for the interplay between the fruit-forward spirit and the wine-cask influence.

Clydeside uses 100% Scottish barley and water from Loch Katrine for this bottling. A longer-than-average fermentation, gentle distillation and unusually high cut points when selecting the heart are intended to produce a clean, distinctly fruity spirit. The whisky was bottled at its natural colour and without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with strawberry, yoghurt, honeydew melon and white chocolate. Ripe raspberries, redcurrants, delicate floral accents and a hint of citrus broaden the bouquet.
• Palate: Mandarin, popcorn, red apple and candyfloss lead on the palate. Sweet red berries, creamy vanilla and honeyed, malty depth follow.
• Finish: The finish is buttery and reminiscent of clementine. It remains fruit-forward for a long time, accompanied by delicate spice, subtle oak and a lightly mineral close.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Clydeside Distillery occupies the former pump house of Glasgow’s historic Queen’s Dock on the River Clyde. It was founded by Tim and Andrew Morrison and is now headed by Andrew Morrison as Managing Director. The family’s whisky history spans more than a century, encompassing work in trading, blending and distilling as well as its former ownership of Bowmore, Glen Garioch and Auchentoshan.

Clydeside sources its water from Loch Katrine, around 40 miles away, and its barley from seven farms in the Scottish Lowlands. Simpsons Malt malts the barley to the distillery’s specifications, and unpeated malt is used for the regular house style. Clear wort, a natural fermentation of around 72 hours and carefully controlled copper stills help develop the desired fruity new make spirit. The cask strategy devised by Dr Jim Swan includes first-fill bourbon, sherry, STR and refill bourbon casks as well as selected special cask types.

Distillery Manager Alistair McDonald brought the new distillery into operation in 2017. The first casks were laid down on 19 December that year, and the first Clydeside Single Malt was released in October 2021. McDonald assessed the distillery’s stocks, after which cask F14 was selected jointly with Alba Import for this single-cask edition.
