Special Features:

A single Bourbon Barrel and 32 years of maturation define this release in the Cask Strength Collection. Clynelish distilled the whisky on 4 May 1990; Signatory Vintage bottled it from cask 3507 on 24 October 2022. The cask yielded 115 individually numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres.

The whisky was bottled at its cask strength of 45.8%. It is non-chill filtered and contains no added colouring. The bottle comes in a black metal tin.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, damp chalk and crushed slate meet waxy paraffin notes, lamp oil and shoe polish. Resin and herbs complement this mineral impression. Fresh mint leaves give way to passion fruit and mango, with a hint of rainwater.
• Palate: The palate opens with an austere, resinous character, bitter herbs and crushed pine needles. Lemon and grapefruit then bring a fresh citrus note. Medicinal touches, a little iodine and a suggestion of cough syrup round out the flavours.
• Finish: The medium-length finish is precise and citrus-led. Hints of limoncello and the herbal liqueur Green Chartreuse linger in the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Clynelish's history dates back to the founding of the original distillery in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford. Today, the distillery operates with a large mash tun and ten washbacks installed during an extensive modernisation programme. Its single malt is also an important component of Johnnie Walker blends. The 1990 vintage predates this modernisation.

Signatory Vintage is the independent bottler of this Clynelish. Andrew Symington founded the company with his brother in 1988, having discovered the diversity of individual whisky casks at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. In 2002, he acquired Edradour distillery; by 2007, the business had moved entirely to its site in Pitlochry. Selecting individual casks is a central focus of Signatory Vintage's work.
