100 Proof Edition #77 is a ten-year-old Clynelish from the 2016 vintage. Signatory Vintage composed this small batch from whisky drawn from refill Oloroso sherry hogsheads and new oak hogsheads, then bottled it in 2026 at 57.1%. The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

The refill sherry casks complement the distillery’s waxy character with dates, raisins and roasted nuts. The new oak contributes vanilla, caramel and bold spice. Honey, citrus peel and malt remain clearly discernible between the fruity depth of the sherry and the drier oak structure.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, honeyed malt, citrus peel and wax mingle with green apple, caramel, dried fruit, roasted nuts and a subtle mineral note.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and oily on the palate. Honey and malt meet vanilla, toffee and nuts before ginger, pepper and oak spice give the waxy texture a drier frame.
• Finish: The finish is long and slightly drying; wax, orange zest, dark berries and herbs linger with spicy oak and a subtle sherry sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Today’s Clynelish Distillery stands near Brora on the Sutherland coast, opposite the site of the original distillery founded in 1819. The modern operation replaced the old plant in the late 1960s. Clynelish is particularly known for a subtly waxy spirit with a coastal Highland character.

Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington and his brother. After acquiring Edradour Distillery in 2002, the independent bottler had fully relocated its operations to Pitlochry by 2007. For Edition #77, Signatory was responsible for composing and bottling the small batch. Edition #77 marks the first appearance of a Clynelish in the 100 Proof Edition. The series name refers to its uniform strength of 100 proof, equivalent to 57.1%.
