Special Features:

This Tawny from Cockburn's brings together younger and older Ports in a carefully balanced blend. The wines mature in previously used oak casks, and the blend balances younger Tawnies with more developed ones. In the glass, it displays a bright tawny-red colour.

Served lightly chilled, this Port can be enjoyed on its own or with sweet pastries, such as apple pie with cinnamon. A generously sized Port or white wine glass gives its aromas room to develop. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place and consume it within six to eight weeks of opening.

This bottling has an alcohol content of 20% and comes in a 0.75-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Honey, caramel and vanilla come together on the nose.
• Palate: The dried-fruit flavours are rounded on the palate; walnut and almond lead into the soft, rich finish.
• Finish: The finish is soft and rich.

Distillery/Bottler:

Cockburn's was founded in 1815 by Scottish brothers Robert and John Cockburn. Winemakers Charles Symington, Nuno Moreira and Manuel Rocha are responsible for this Tawny. Their work combines the selection of Ports at different stages of maturation with the fine-tuning of the finished blend.

Cockburn's lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia is a working maturation cellar containing thousands of oak casks and large wooden vats for Port. The house has its own team of coopers, who repair previously used oak casks. This keeps the care of the casks essential to maturation directly within the business.
