Release 26.1 is Copeland’s first whiskey release of 2026. The whiskey was made from 100% malted barley and double-distilled in copper pot stills. This single malt, aged for at least five years, was bottled at cask strength at 57.8% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring; the edition comprises 860 bottles.

The distinctive cask history shapes this release: former Pinot Noir and Syrah/Shiraz barriques had held high-strength rum before the whiskey. Its flavour combines juicy fruit and floral nuances with rum sweetness, dark toast, wood tannins and the powerful warmth of cask strength.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines juicy fruit with nutty notes, Manuka honey and malted barley.
• Palate: The whiskey is oily and intensely warm on the palate, with spice, wood tannins, brown sugar and dark toast.
• Finish: The finish is long, warm and dry, with sweet and floral accents.

Distillery/Bottler:

Copeland Distillery has been distilling its own whiskey in Donaghadee on the Northern Irish coast since 2019, including Single Malt and Pot Still Irish Whiskey. Release 26.1 was distilled and bottled at the distillery by Copeland and matured on the Ards Peninsula.
